Tips for hiring a DJ:
- Ask about experience. Experience is important when it comes to delivering tasteful/ professional performances and your entertainment should be able to supply you with a list of happy customers. How many years of experience do you have? Are you familiar with our type of event? - Ask for references. References should be plentiful and readily available. Additionally, ask for professional referrals. Event professionals (banquet managers, photographers, caterers, etc.) can provide considerable insight and information about your entertainment choice. - Do they carry insurance? Any true professional will answer “Yes” to this question. - Is there back-up equipment available? There should be back-up equipment at performance events. - Is the equipment professional grade? An important question, as home stereo equipment is not designed for the rigors of travel abuse. (Hint: Ask for brand names. Professionals use Numark, Rane, JBL, Peavey…Warning signs for home stereo gear are names like Sony, JVC, Kicker). - Will there be a signed contract? This is a MUST. A contract assures there will be a DJ for your event, and no last minute cancellations. - Will your DJ be a professional? You want someone fun and outgoing without being overbearing, energetic without being obnoxious, enthusiastic and sensitive to your desires for the performance to be delivered. - What type of music will you play? At most events you want a variety of music to be played as there are a variety of musical tastes at most performances. This is where your DJ can make or break a party. We typically play a variety of music to address individual tastes and we encourage appropriate requests. Many of our events have all age groups and therefore we watch content and edit our music accordingly. - How much do you charge? Typically, this is one of the first questions many people ask. We’ve listed this last as there are many more important questions to be discussed before the question of price is addressed. We are not your “average” DJ service…We do not perform at an “average” level…Therefore we do not charge an “average” fee for our services. We are not the most expensive in the area, and by no means the cheapest. We do however deliver an outstanding value to our customers. |
